This news will be delivered at the 2010 Plug-In Conference that’s happening right now in San Jose California. The Volt will be first available in certain launch markets only, those of which being the following states:
Chevrolet Volt Launch Markets
First – California, Washington D.C., and Michigan
Followed by – Texas, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Chevy Volt Range
The Chevrolet Volt’s driving range of 340 miles, of which 40 is pure electric brings excitement and anticipation for many people in the country who want to produce zero emissions and know that they aren’t contributing to the global warming crisis.
Chevrolet Volt Charging Stations
The first 4,400 happy new Chevrolet Volt owners are going to be provided a 240 Volt charging station for free. The Volt can be charged on 120 Volts, but by utilizing the 240V station, charging times are significantly reduced. If you’ve ever owned a 120V clothes dryer and hated how long it took to dry your clothes then you’ll understand this concept quite simply.
The Department of Energy is planning to install about 15,000 home charging stations across the US to conduct studies on how the process will be handled from many different viewpoints. They’ll study usage to predict demand on the grid, as well as determine suitable locations and setups for both work and home charging capability.
Chevy Volt – Family Car
The Volt is also not just a novelty car, or weekend cruiser like some of the other alternatives on the market which are inadequate for transporting a family due to their compact size. The Chevrolet Volt was designed and engineered to be the primary car for a family.
