The highly anticipated Chevy Volt is coming out this year, but only in three states and GM still hasn’t informed us of the final price yet. The Volt launch is also looking like their might be some delays involved according to gm-volt.com.
The Nissan Leaf, as we’ve all heard is sold out for its first year, so it’s quite possible the Volt will do well should they get moving and publish the prices.
Suppliers are being squeezed too, as told over at The Detroit Bureau in their recent post “A Less Expensive Chevy Volt” which illustrates the fact that tax savings are going to make this an attractive deal.
There are plenty of people who are ready to get their hands on these cars and it’s going to be interesting to watch how well the manufacturers are able to keep up with the demand.
The new technology, new systems and training that have to be accomplished at the dealer level also poses some challenges, but it’s time to get these vehicles out there in the hands of some proud new Chevy owners ASAP.
The first mover advantage here is critical, and by coming out with the vehicle as the consumers want it, manufacturers will be forced to figure out ways to avoid supply shortages and raw material challenges.
The other aspect to consider here is whether the Volt comes with any additional, unexpected costs that might incur due to the charging stations and other such equipment. There simply isn’t enough information out there for the general public to get their hands on, and hopefully that will change as electric vehicles will be a major opportunity for the rebuilding of the auto industry.
